Holiday shopping (31 Days of Christmas)

31dayslogoHappy Hump Day! As you know, Mina Carter & I are celebrating Christmas by giving YOU gifts. We are alternating days with fun posts on our blogs.

Today, let’s talk about holiday shopping. Some people love it, some people dread it and will wait until the very last second to get it all done.  I’m one of those who loves to get it done early, so I can enjoy other parts of the holiday season, especially spending time with my family.  However, this year, I’ve been running a bit behind.  I did a lot of shopping over Black Friday/Thanksgiving weekend and hope to finish up all my shopping this coming weekend.

To be entered in today’s #giveaway, leave me a comment telling me how you handle holiday shopping. Do you love being out and about or do you prefer to stay in and shop online?  Are there any procrastinators out there who wait until the last minute?  Today’s winner will receive a swag pack.  Don’t forget to enter to #win the grand prize: A Kindle Voyager or $199 gift card.

All winners will be announced here on the blog January 4, 2015.20141021_183400-1
a Rafflecopter giveaway

I shop last minute because we are shopping paycheck to paycheck lol. Plus by stretching it out I get more time out of the house lol

I love holiday shopping. Usually, I pick up a few things before, but I spend a lot of money and get the bulk of my shopping done on Black Friday. Although, most of the time I am still shopping for someone at the last minute. This is my favorite time of the year. I get to indulge in my love of gift giving and wrapping!

Everything is tight so I’m only buying gifts for my twins. They turned 1 on halloween so we won’t be getting them a lot, but enough to celebrate with them. If we can manage, probably a small gift certificate to the theater near our house, for my parents. We did buy my husbands nephew a gift, but we did that in August, so that’s done. So, just a quick trip to babies r us and the theater and I am done. I hate shopping … But I love to give gifts.

I am always a last minute shopper. I do get some things early because I buy them off ebay and get better prices but for the most part I am shopping until the 23rd or later. I love the holidays because of family and getting to see the love and happiness that is not always present the rest of the year:-)

I usually put all my big purchases in layaway starting in September. Then I will pick up the small stuff here and there till Christmas. I don’t mind shopping this time of year as along as it is not the mall because I avoid that this time of year. :)

I do some shopping online. My favorite place is a local artist that opens a holiday boutique. She and her daughter bring in many other artists that sell jewelry, mittens, bags, lotions and their own paintings. It’s a wonderful place to shop.

I hate shopping and crowds. I try to get most of it online. This is the first year I went shopping after Thanksgiving in the stores. It reminded me why I hate it.

I pick up things throughout the year for my husband and have a designated spot to put them or else I will forget where they are and what they are. LOL This year I decided to give gift cards to all the family and friends(except my husband). And I decided that all the gift cards will be food themed. (Like Subway, Outback Steak House, Olive Garden, McDonalds, etc.) I am getting 1 gift card from each place on my list of food places. Then putting them in gift card holders I made from scraps of Christmas wrapping paper. I will let everyone pick thier present by the wrapping. Should be really nice and fun.

I almost always make my gifts for most of my family (knitted sweaters, socks, shawls, etc) – probably because I hate shopping in the crowds

I love to shop all year & I give gifts that same way. But I seem to have drifted to more online shopping than going to stores. But I really love the malls, so I know I’ll never fully give in to the cyber store.

I have all my shopping done before the start of December. Most of that is done online, because I HATE the crowds and crying kids in the stores.

The last couple years I have been doing most of my shopping online. I did go black Friday shopping but I didn’t go until 9am. And a lot of the things I wanted were still there. I still have a good bit of shopping yet to do.
