Worst Christmas gift (31 Days of Christmas)

31dayslogoIt’s almost Friday, and one day closer to Christmas. We’re officially 2 weeks out. Keeping with the gifting theme, my sister gave me my best gift, my worst gift came from my niece. She got me a multi-colored neon purse. It was really kind of awful.  But, it came from my niece, whom I love and adore, so I couldn’t get rid of it. About 2 years later, I finally “returned” it to my sister.  It isn’t about what you get, but just the fact that someone put thought into it.

What was your worst Christmas gift? Comment below to be entered into today’s #giveaway, a signed copy of the Sassy Mates omnibus. And make sure to enter to #win the grand prize, a Kindle Voyager (or $199 gift card).  Don’t forget to check out Mina Carter’s blog, too–we are alternating posting each day to celebrate 31 Days of Christmas.    SMomnibus

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Winners from all my giveaways will be posted on the blog on January 4, 2015.

My sisters Mother in Law gave me a used purse. Yes, used! She has also given my sisters kids boxes of cereal, diapers, and the family spaghetti sauce etc.

Worst gift – my husband forgot about stockings so he filled mine with oranges from the fruit bowl. —> not a horrible worst gift ;)

Best gift – last year’s street team secret santa – I asked for whimsical beach paperweight and that is exactly what I got – I love it!

My sister gave me an scrapbook for my cats, that was already used, and she forgot to take the yard sale $1 price tag off. On the inside of the cover, the had a bunch of coupons for me to buy cat food, treats, and cat beds with. I love my furry little friends, but I do have a life outside of my pets, LOL ;)

Worst-nothing. There have been a few years where the holidays didn’t happen at our house.

Best-Every year I spend with my hubby at Christmas.

I’d say when my father sent me a cross … He’s across the country, doesn’t really know me well, thinks he does, and said he got me this amazing gift. It was a Celtic cross (I do love Celtic things, as it’s my heritage) and when he described it, it was like an ancient, antique thing … I had imagined some large, ceramic, heavy cross on a leather throng, right? I’d be okay with something ancient/antique and Celtic. So, a package comes with a great gift for my daughters (which is honestly all I cared about, even if they’re too young to be excited about the gifts) and this tiny little piece of thick paper with a ‘silver’ (tin, more like) Celtic cross on it. It’s the kind of thing you find in the cheapest, cheesiest gift shop. I’d say it was the thought that counts but … I’m Jewish. I wear a necklace with a Star of David on it, wore a Chai (kind of looks like a wonky horse stick figure) all through my teen years until it was stolen from my parents house while I was away … He still thought I was Christian. I’ve been Jewish since I was able to make the choice (8?), and I’m 31 now. The best part is, aside from him making it out to be some amazing gift, it being the wrong religion and being the cheapest piece of jewelry I’ve ever seen, the price tag was on it so it really WAS the cheapest … super, super, super cheap. My 1 year old daughters could each buy it, easily.

My aunt has a big heart but not budget. For Christmas she is well known for giving gifts that are questionable. One year she gave me a calendar and notepads that she got free from a nature protection group. It still be out the glove scraper she gave my mother who never scrapes her windows.

The worst Christmas gift I have ever received would be clothes that are too small because I feel like someone is trying to tell me something.

The worst present I ever received was when I was in the 6th grade and my aunt Jackie and my uncle Bobby gifted my with a plaster statue of a gargoyle. UGLY and HEAVY! What do you do with it?
